How to Apply for a Tourist Visa To New Zealand

If you intend to visit New Zealand on vacation, you may need to apply for a tourist visa before your arrival.

The quickest and most convenient way to apply is online. Apply for a visiting visa online.

If you are unable to apply online, you can download a paper application. Visitor visa application (INZ 1017). 

If you do not provide all of the requested documentation, Immigration New Zealand (INZ) will return your application.

People with passports from certain countries must apply for a Visitor Visa to visit New Zealand.

You may stay for up to 6 months (multiple entrance) or 9 months (single entry). You cannot work, but you may study for up to three months.

Visa Application Fees

The cost of your visa is determined by the mode of application you choose; applying online is usually less expensive. Most people pay using a credit card (Mastercard, Visa, or UnionPay).

 Visa processing times We are contemplating variations for each visa. 

Find the necessary information to:

I) Apply for visas and expressions of interest. 

II) Sign up for a ballot. 

III) Apply for employer schemes, accreditation, and approval. 

IV) Keep your visa and passport updated.

NOTE: If your application is denied, you will not receive a refund of your money.

You must apply for entry authorization when you arrive in New Zealand. You can do this by filling out a digital New Zealand traveller declaration (NZTD) or a paper declaration. 

New Zealand Customs and Biosecurity also ensure that you meet their entrance standards.

You may be denied entrance if:

I) You are not a legitimate visitor. 

II) Do not meet our character requirements. 

III) Have your circumstances changed since you were awarded a visa? 

IV) Refuse to provide us with your photo, fingerprints, or an iris scan. 

V) Cannot provide proof of any subsequent travel or monies required to exit New Zealand.

The length of your stay is determined by whether you hold a multiple or single-entry visa. 

Multiple entry Visitor Visa 

If you obtain a multiple entry visa, you can visit New Zealand as a tourist as many times as you wish, staying for up to 6 months in a 12-month period.

Single-entry Visitor Visa 

If you intend to visit New Zealand for more than 6 months or extend your current 6-month stay, we may issue you a single entry visa.

This allows you to visit New Zealand once and stay for up to nine months in an 18-month term.

IMPORTANT! If you have a single-entry Visitor Visa and leave the country, it will expire.

Visa expiration 

You must depart New Zealand before your visa expires.

Traveling to and from New Zealand requires a valid multiple-entry travel condition for return.

Funds or sponsorship 

You must have enough money to support yourself in New Zealand or be sponsored.

Work 

You cannot work in New Zealand with this visa.

Study 

You can study for up to three months in any twelve-month period.

Prove your identity. 

To apply, you must provide a color photo (or two if using a paper form) and a passport valid for at least 3 months after your planned departure date from New Zealand.
