Kalonzo Hits Back At Junet, Duale On Official Opposition Leadership
Following Raila Odinga’s presumed exit from local politics, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has maintained his position as the official opposition leader.
Speaking in Mombasa ahead of his three-day tour of the region on Friday, Kalonzo stated that the decision was made by more than 20 Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party members.
The Wiper boss scoffed at Minority Leader Junet Mohamed’s remarks on Thursday, when he declared himself Opposition leader.
“As it stands now, I’m the official opposition leader because I’m the Minority Leader and you cannot take away the job God has given me. Those in the opposition should know I am their leader,” Junet said on Thursday.

Kalonzo however retorted: “I’m ready to be the leader of the official opposition. This is the team. You will see the opposition like never before. We may be light in numbers in Parliament, but outside we have the people of Kenya.”
Kalonzo had earlier stated on his official X account that: “There is something called ‘defacto.’ The country cannot afford to have a void.”

Following Odinga’s departure, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya co-principals Eugene Wamalwa and Jeremiah Kioni reiterated that Kalonzo was the political outfit’s second-most senior leader.
Raila launched his bid for the African Union Commission earlier this week.
