HOMABAY: Tragedy as Bees Attack Pupils Killing One, Injuring Seven
A kid was killed and seven others were injured when a swarm of bees attacked a group of students in Michacha Village, Samba Sub-location, Suba South Constituency, Homa Bay County.
It is possible that the children agitated the bees while playing near their homes before attacking them.
According to Area Chief Lucas Ocholla, the youngsters were sent to Magunga Level Four Hospital for emergency care after the event.
He told the local newspaper that seven youngsters had been rehabilitated and released to different families.
One Grade One child, who had suffered severe stings, was sent to St Camillus Sori Hospital, where she died.
The student’s body was then sent to the St Camillus Hospital mortuary.
Ocholla urged parents to keep their children safe over the holidays to avoid similar tragedies.
On October 2, a 38-year-old man died as a result of an alleged bee attack in the same county.
Police from the Oyugis Police Station in the Rachuonyo South Sub-county confirmed the occurrence, indicating that Bernard Omollo died as a result of the attack on October 1, 2025.
