In a solemn ceremony at the National Assembly, Speaker Moses Wetang’ula honored Aloisio Nterepu Lekulo, OGW, for nearly two decades of loyal service as Chief Sergeant at Arms.

Likulo, who joined Parliament in 2006, will retire on November 24, 2025.

During the State of the Nation Address, Wetang’ula complimented Likulo’s stable leadership, claiming that his tenure professionalized the department and pushed for critical improvements in security, etiquette, and estate management.

“Honorable members, I wish to draw your attention to the officer standing to the right of the chamber in green. He is the Chief Sergeant at Arms of the National Assembly, Mr Aloisio Likulo OGW,” Wetangula began.

“This special mention of this gallant son of Kenya is for the reason that he comes from the smallest community in our nation, the Elmolo.”

According to the National Assembly speaker, Elmolo had a population of approximately 500 as of the most recent census.

Under his leadership, the Sergeant-at-Arms service saw considerable changes, including the modernization of security operations and event management.

The National Assembly Speaker praised Likulo’s efforts to raise the Sergeant-at-Arms’ status locally and globally.

Prior to his legislative career, Likulo worked in the provincial government as a district officer in counties such as Isiolo, Trans Nzoia, and Laikipia.

“He has risen through the ranks as a high school teacher, as a District Officer and competitively employed in parliament in 2006 in the sergeant’s office, rising to become the Chief Sergeant at Arms,” Wetangula said.

He also mentioned that it was Likulo’s last day of duty after years of dedicated devotion to the public.

Wetang’ula therefore expressed gratitude, saying, “The National Assembly, the Parliamentary Service Commission, and the Office of the Speaker appreciate his contribution to strengthening institutional capacity and wish him well.”
