Mike Sonko Intervenes in Oga Obinna’s Arrest Attempt
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko intervened on Friday to prevent lawyers Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombeta from going after media celebrity Oga Obinna, allowing him to escape incarceration.
Omari and Ombeta had filed a cyber usage allegation against Obinna with the DCI, which might have led to the media star and young lawyer being seized.
Cliff Ombeta stated this at a reconciliation meeting conducted on December 19 at the former governor’s office in Nairobi, which was organized by Sonko, who, like Danstan Omari, was absent.
“We had reported the matter to the DCI for misuse of cyber; you were going to be apprehended,” lawyer Cliff Ombeta revealed.
Ombeta also indicated that they had withdrawn the complaint and will not move to court to sue the media personality, nor will they seek fees or damages.

The case arose from Obinna’s broadcast, in which he claimed to have issued a disclaimer about remarks made by a young lawyer; nevertheless, Ombeta explained that the disclaimer could not protect Obinna from prosecution.
“The disclaimer does not help you. Why? It is being carried on your platform. Your platform reaches so many people; if he speaks by himself out there, he will not reach anybody,” Ombeta explained.
The well-known lawyer has warned Obinna to caution his interviewees against going too far and making derogatory remarks about others while on his show.

The young lawyer also apologized to the two lawyers for his words; however, he maintained that his graft claims did not particularly pertain to the two, but rather to bribes throughout the judiciary.
The interview in question took place on December 16, where the young lawyer claimed that Omari and Ombeta do not take up court cases to completion but rather take cases for publicity.
The young lawyer also accused the two prominent lawyers of graft, remarks that got him in trouble.
The matter is now settled, with Oga Obinna clarifying that it is not his intention to malign people on his show.
