DJ Krowbar Mourns Wife Who Passed Away From Cancer, Family Calls For Love And Prayers
The family of famed gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, also known as DJ Krowbar, has announced the death of the DJ’s wife, Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, who died early Monday morning.
Joyce died at 3:00 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2026, after a protracted illness that she confronted with strong faith, fortitude, and courage, according to her family.
According to her family, she got a kidney transplant in mid-2025, which originally showed promise before she encountered difficulties later that year.
Joyce was discharged home around the end of 2025 after successfully managing an infection.
However, Joyce’s family revealed that her health had deteriorated again in recent weeks, prompting her re-admission for medical care just before her death.
Joyce is remembered for her incredible tenacity and persistent faith throughout her illness, attributes that won her over the hearts of family and friends.

She was affectionately known as “Joy” and was characterized as a loving wife, mother, and woman of strong conviction whose life influenced many people beyond her immediate family.
She is survived by her husband, DJ Karumba, and their three daughters, Toria, Riri, and Imani.
In their message, the family expressed their tremendous sadness over the loss but remained steadfast in their faith, finding solace in the knowledge that Joyce is now at peace.
“While we are deeply saddened by this profound loss, we find comfort knowing she is now at perfect peace,” read the statement in part.
The family has requested prayers, love, and respect for their privacy during the mourning period.

Quoting Psalms 31:5 as a reflection of their faith and hope during the difficult time, the family of Joyce Wanjiru Karumba concluded by encouraging the public to continue holding the Karumba family in prayer as they prepared to lay her to rest.
