IEBC Announces 30-Day Voter Registration Drive Beginning March 30

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the launch of a new voter registration drive, offering Kenyans another chance to register as voters ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the commission confirmed that the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) will begin on Monday, March 30, this year, with Kenyans now able to register to vote at all Huduma Centres across the nation.

The exercise will last for 30 days, until Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

Registration will be open every day from Monday to Sunday, as opposed to earlier workouts that were only available on certain days.

IEBC said the move is aimed at expanding access and ensuring more eligible voters are captured in the register.

Voter registration during the ECVR will take place across multiple locations, including county assembly wards on a rotational basis guided by kit movement schedules.

The exercise will also be carried out in universities and colleges within respective constituencies.

Additionally, apart from Huduma Centres, eligible applicants can register at IEBC constituency offices and the IEBC Customer Experience Centre located at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi.

However, IEBC noted that the exercise will not be conducted in electoral areas where by-elections are scheduled or where election petitions are still ongoing.

The exercise comes at a time when young people have intensified mobilisation efforts under the NikoKadi initiative.

Increased numbers are turning up at IEBC offices across the country to register as voters ahead of the next general election.

The push has been driven largely by civic groups and youth-led campaigns encouraging first-time voters to acquire identification documents and participate in the electoral process.
