Ruto Gets New Contractor For Stalled Bungoma Road

The long-awaited restoration of the Misikhu-Brigadier Road will begin soon, according to President William Ruto.

Speaking in Lugulu during the commencement of the Last Mile Electrification Project, President Ruto chastised the previous contractor for delivering subpar work and delaying development for years.

He told people that his government had acquired sufficient cash and would hire a new contractor with specific instructions to construct the road in record time.

“We have mobilised resources, and there is now sufficient funding for this road. A new contractor will soon be sent to complete the project,” the president said.

The president also announced that the route would be expanded from Ndivisi-Lukuki to connect with the Lugulu-Kitale main road, thereby increasing regional connectivity.

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, who spoke at the same ceremony, praised the decision, describing the route as a long-standing source of irritation for villagers.

“People from this region have been deeply concerned about the state of this road,” Governor Lusaka said.

“Its timely completion will not only ease their struggles but also boost your prospects for re-election.”

Lusaka stated that, while the county government had met its duties, the national government’s delay had slowed progress.

Ruto is on a weeklong working tour of the Western region. On his agenda, he plans to visit Bungoma town on Friday to inspect ongoing development projects.

Bungoma County residents have expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of development on the Misikhu-Brigadier road.

The 45-kilometer road, built in collaboration with the national government and the Bungoma county government, has been under construction since 2016, costing Sh1.3 billion in total.
