EACC Raids FKF Offices As Embattled President Lays Bare On Alleged Insurance Scandal
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has confirmed that it has raided the offices of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) at the Goal Project in Kasarani amid questions and concerns over the mismanagement of the Ksh42 million insurance scandal.
It has been established that the visit was part of the Ksh42 million African Nations Championship (CHAN) scandal, where several officials in the federation, including the CEO Dennis Gicheru and the President, Hussein Mohammed, are alleged to have been involved.
However, EACC has sought to establish that the visit should not raise any public alarm, as it was part of the investigation process, which is still at the preliminary stages.
The commission maintained that it is fast tracking investgations into the matter and it hopes to conclude it as soon as possible.
Additionally, a source close to the investigations has maintained that the visit is not a search operation and that the commission is only at the moment trying to analyse the documents that were collected during the Tuesday morning visit.

At the same time, the source said that FKF had earlier been requested to provide key documents to aid the process.
However, the whole process was initiated mainly due to the public interest in the matter and the reason that Kenya is one of the host countries for the 2027 PAMOJA AFCON tournament.
This comes after the federation’s National Executive Committee (NEC) decision on Friday, April 24, to suspend Mohammed, Gicheru, and NEC member Abdullahi Yussuf Ibrahim following allegations of financial impropriety.

In his speech, the embattled FKF boss claimed that the allegations form part of a broader smear campaign aimed at undermining his leadership and reform agenda.
“FKF did not transfer or pay any money to any insurance company for CHAN competitions,” Mohamed stated, insisting that all services were delivered in line with CAF requirements.
On Sunday, the events took another turn when the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) wrote to FKF seeking grounds for the suspension of the three and revealed that it was monitoring proceedings and that it expected a formal response by May 1.
FIFA further directed FKF to submit a wide range of documents to support its review.
Which includes records of how the emergency NEC meeting was convened, proof of quorum, voting details, and evidence that the affected officials were given a fair opportunity to respond before any action was taken.
