The High Court in Nairobi has ordered the release of a woman arrested on claims that she ran an X account that published information about President William Ruto’s travel movements.
Justice Alexander Muteti ordered that Halima Ngache, popularly known online as “Princess Halima,” be released from police detention by Friday’s close of business.
The case will be heard on Monday next week, and the court is anticipated to rule on it.
Ngache was apprehended on June 30 by investigators from the DCI’s Serious Crimes Unit.

Court documents state that the account published posts claiming the President travelled from Belgium to Norway aboard a chartered private jet on June 8, from Norway to Finland on June 10.
Additionally, another post on June 25 alleged that Ruto had left Kenya and was expected to board a private jet in Madagascar.
“…the motive of the alleged tracking remains unknown and the information published by the said user has caused apprehension about the person of the Head of State as well as Kenyan citizens,” the affidavit states.
