Tragedy In Kakamega After Man Axed While Separating A Fighting Couple
A 28-year-old man was axed to death as he attempted to break up a fight between a couple in Buyinje village, Musoli, Kakamega County.
The deceased was identified as Moses Akumali. Witnesses said he was on his way home when he saw a couple fight on Saturday morning.
According to police and witnesses, Akumali attempted to intervene and stop the fight.
The man in the fight then picked up an axe and struck Akumali three times in the head, killing him.
Witnesses told police that this ended the couple’s fight. It is unclear what sparked the argument and fight between the two.
Villagers rescued the victim and transported him to Shibwe Hospital, where he was treated and discharged. He then bled profusely.
Unfortunately, according to police, his condition worsened and he died while being rushed to Kakamega County Hospital.
The deceased’s body was then taken to the Mukumu Mission Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Police officers responded to the scene and recovered the axe as they searched for the suspect.
Meanwhile, police in Matuu, Machakos County, are investigating the murder of a man whose body was discovered on the roadside.
According to police, the body was discovered at the Gateki Shopping Centre in Kaluluin Sub Location.
Police who arrived at the scene discovered that Daniel Muendo Mutwa, 28, had been stabbed in the chest by a neighbour following a fight on Sunday, September 1.
The two were neighbors living in the same rental homes and were said to have disagreed for unknown reasons.
According to detectives, the assailant fled the scene minutes later.
Police said the cause of the fight between the two was not immediately determined, and they are investigating.
According to police, the body was moved to Mbaku Mortuary for a postmortem examination while the search for the assailant continued.
