Kenyan’s Plane Stuck At The DRC Airport Faces Auction

Kenyans who have been awaiting collection of their aircraft at Ndjili Airport in Kinshasha, DR Congo, were given a 30-day deadline on Friday.

Otherwise, the auctioneer representing Air Kasai, based in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will sell the property at auction. The notice appeared in the Kenya Gazette on Friday.

According to the notice, the plane with the registration number 5Y-SKN, a Fokker type, had been repaired while on the airport grounds.

Before the plane is cleared to leave the premises, the owner must pay the storage charges and make the necessary repairs.

“Notice is given pursuant to section 5 of the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act (Cap. 38) of the laws of Kenya, to the owner(s) of the undermentioned Aircraft/salvage: registration 5Y-SKN, serial No. 20110 Fokker 50 type, which is lying at the premises of Ndjili Airport, Kinshasha, DR Congo, to take delivery of the same within thirty (30) days from the date of publication of this notice upon payment of all outstanding storage and repair charges and any other incidental cost uncured thereto at the date delivery is taken,” read the notice in part.

“If the aforesaid aircraft/salvage is not collected at the expiry of the notice mentioned above, the same shall be sold by auction or private treaty by Milestone Auctioneers, at Ndjili Airport, Kinshasha, DR Congo.”

The notice appeared alongside several others, directing owners of motor vehicles and other machinery to collect the vehicles or risk seeing them auctioned.

Tata Holdings announced in one of the notices that it would be auctioning off trucks and other vehicles that had been sitting in its garage for over five years.

The garage is located on Mombasa Road.

The owners must collect the property within 30 days or Top Scout (K) Limited will dispose off it through public auction or private treaty.

In total, 33 properties were listed, with 27 of them being motor vehicles. All of these had been held for more than five years.

Other auctioneers placed motorcycles and automobiles in various garages across the country.
