At least seven Kenyans are set for a large payday following outstanding performances at the New York City marathon on Sunday, November 3.
Sheila Chepkirui and Somali-Dutch runner Abdi Nageeye were the two biggest winners from the race, finishing first in the men’s and women’s races, respectively.
Despite failing to repeat her win from the previous year, Hellen Obiri finished second, with another Kenyan, Vivian Cheruiyot, taking third place.
Evans Chebet of Kenya narrowly lost to Nageeye in the men’s category despite being the odds-on favourite for much of the time.
