KENYA RAILWAYS: SGR Notifies All Customers Of Their Ticketing Services
The Kenya Railways has advised all Madaraka Express customers of the official channels through which they should book all of their tickets.
Kenya Railways announced on February 3 that tickets could only be obtained through three official outlets.
“Kenya Railways wishes to notify members of the public that all bookings for Madaraka Express Passenger Service are strictly facilitated through the following official channels,” part of the statement read.
According to the statement, the three channels include their website, www.metickets.krc.co.ke; the USSD code, *639#; and any of their physical sites.

They also informed the public about the only two phone numbers they use to communicate with their consumers, which are 0709 907 000 or 0709 907 555.
In the event of any booking complications resulting from using booking channels other than those offered, the managing director stated that the corporation would not be held liable.
“The Corporation will not be held liable for any issues arising from bookings or calls made outside the official channels listed above,” the statement declared.
“We urge all passengers to utilize the authorized channels to ensure a smooth travel experience on the Madaraka Express Passenger Service. Thank you for your cooperation.”
Since its inception, SGR has documented cases of fraud committed by its employees as well as hackers targeting unsuspecting Kenyans attempting to book excursions to the seaside.
On February 3, 2024, Kenya Railways identified four mobile applications that were allegedly being used to defraud Kenyans making reservations.
The organization identified the apps used to swindle Kenyans as SGR Madaraka Express, SGR Madaraka Express Mobile, Madaraka Express-Online Book, and Madaraka Express.

They also warned about additional techniques used by fraudsters to mislead Kenyans through unverified communication, such as creating fake social media pages to spread false information on platforms.
On Facebook, for example, there were accounts named SGR-Madaraka Express Customer Service call, SGR Forum-Madaraka Express, and Madaraka Express Customer Service.
Meanwhile, X accounts like @KenyaRailway, @_KenyaRailways_, @kenyarailwaykrc, @KenyaRailw39401, @KenyaRailwayske, @Kenyarailway_ke, @KenyaRailway, and @KanyoRailways were being used fraudulently.
“Please note that Kenya Railways’ official pages and contacts are Kenya Railways on Facebook and @KenyaRailways on Twitter,” the corporation clarified.
