‘Give President Ruto A Warm Welcome!’ – Former MP Urges Mt Kenya People
Former Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has advised Mount Kenya inhabitants to display maturity in welcoming President William Ruto.
President Ruto will undertake a five-day tour of the huge region on April 1, his first visit since his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, was impeached last year.
Ahead of Ruto’s tour, Ngunjiri urged citizens to greet him warmly and avoid any type of disrespect, hooliganism, or heckling.
He noted that the Mount Kenya region accounted for 47% of the total votes that clinched Ruto’s presidency in 2022.
Ngunjiri highlighted that such a large percentage deserves a fair share of development, which can only be accomplished if the President is warmly received.

“Mount Kenya region gave Ruto 47 per cent of the votes, and expectations for development are very high,” Ngunjiri said.
“I appeal to all leaders from the region to be patient and allow the President to explain his development projects.”
The former MP, who previously supported Gachagua, advised citizens to be peaceful and avoid any sort of violence before and after the President’s tour.
He criticized the hooliganism that occurred in Nairobi during the President’s recent visit to the city, citing it as an example of political intolerance and immaturity.
“We saw what happened in Nairobi after the President left—some people took advantage to loot properties,” Ngunjiri said.

“We don’t want to see such actions in Mount Kenya because that would reflect poorly on our community.”
He further stated that many members of the Mount Kenya community live in other parts of the country, making any acts of violence especially sad.
“Our people live peacefully with other communities, and we should reciprocate by promoting love and peace,” he added.
Ngunjiri advised Mt Kenya leaders not to incite citizens to join President Ruto’s rallies, saying the region must remain calm and welcoming.
