Residents Storm UDA MP’s Offices In Protest Over CDF Funds, Nepotism
Normalcy was disrupted in the Loima Constituency when hundreds of citizens stormed the NG-CDF headquarters in protest of UDA Member of Parliament Protus Akuja.
Residents, armed with tree branches and anti-MP signs, requested that the legislator be removed from his seat.
They accused him of malfeasance, nepotism, and a lack of openness in awarding tenders, positions, and NG-CDF bursaries.
Residents voiced distrust and displeasure with their neighborhood as they marched peacefully to the offices, chanting ‘Akuja Must Go’. They also accused the MP of absenteeism.

“We are tired of Akuja, every other constituency has received the CDFs, we see the residents being helped, but that is not the case here, we have not received any CDF, the MP is barely seen here,” one of the residents decried.
They have accused the MP of awarding bogus road tenders to exclusively his family members.
They also claimed that the MP gives CDF bursaries to family members or others associated with the family.
“That KeRRA road plan he claims to be working on doesn’t exist, or if it does, he’s doing it with his family. Everyone in charge of the CDF is just a family member,” another resident alleged.
According to neighbors, the majority of pupils in the region have stopped attending school due to a lack of financing from the MP.
They claim that most schools in the area have closed.

Responding to the protests, the MP claimed that they were planned and politically motivated against him.
“I want to make it clear that this is not a spontaneous expression by the residents but rather a politically instigated protest, orchestrated by elements within the county government,” the MP alleged.

The MP claims that the county leaders who are against him orchestrated the protests to draw attention away from current investigations and build a narrative that he was behind the EACC probe.
The MP is among the least talkative members of the National Assembly.
According to Mzalendo, a parliamentary monitoring outfit, Akujah is one of the 19 MPs who did not participate in any debates in 2024.
The protests against the MP occur at a time when the NG-CDF monies are being scrutinized, with requests to decentralize them to the national government to combat claims of mismanagement.
