Gachagua Condemns Killings In Ang’ata Barikoi, Vows To Expose perpetrators
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has promised to release a list of the leaders responsible for the Monday riots in Ang’ata Barikoi, Narok County.
Gachagua, in a statement issued Monday evening, blamed the deaths in Barikoi on what he described as an insatiable thirst among some leaders seeking to seize Kenyan land tracts.
According to the former DP, the 6,000-acre plot of property at the center of the debate rightly belongs to Kenyans, who have occupied it for decades.
“My heart goes out to the families of the five innocent people who have been shot dead and several who have been injured in Ang’ata Barikoi over the 6,000-acre piece of land which rightfully belongs to the citizens who have occupied the land for several decades,” Gachagua commented.
“What kind of insatiable appetite is this by a section of leaders for the primitive accumulation of grabbed land and wealth? Can our Nation sink into?” he questioned.
In his statement, Gachagua also sought to know who was behind the General Service Unit (GSU) and Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) police officers’ shoot-to-kill orders.

While condemning the massacres in Ang’ata Barikoi, the former DP called for the swift arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the horrific murders and injuries.
Gachagua stated that he was gathering proof and information on the subject and would soon identify and shame those involved for the horrific deed.
“Who deployed GSU and RDU officers to exercise unlawful, lethal, and brutal police force on innocent Kenyans in Ang’ata?,” Gachagua posed.
“This forceful displacement of population is a crime against humanity, and whoever is culpable must face crimes against humanity.”
He added: “I am gathering evidence and information on this matter, and we will name and shame those responsible for this heinous act.

Following violent skirmishes between inhabitants of Ang’ata Barikoi in Narok County and security officers, at least five persons were slain on Monday afternoon by what appeared to be police officers.
The violent fights erupted as residents protested against government officials who had come to demarcate a plot of property in the region.
As emotions rose, police officers were quickly dispatched to disperse the protestors who had blocked the highways.
