CS Mbadi Revokes Former Governor’s Appointment In Fresh Leadership Changes
Former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati’s appointment as Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees was withdrawn by National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi.
In an official Gazette notification, CS Mbadi announced that the former Governor stepped down as chair on June 27.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 (1) (a) of the Public Service Superannuation Scheme Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning revokes the appointment of Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati,” the notice reads in part.
The former governor was selected to chair the Board of Trustees on June 8, 2024.
He was appointed by the then-National Treasury CS, Prof Njuguna Ndung’u, and was to serve for three years.

However, CS Mbadi did not explain why the appointment was revoked.
The revocation comes amid a number of leadership changes across other government boards.
Another CS who made changes is ICT CS William Kabogo, who appointed two members to the Complaints Commission for a three-year term.
Kabogo named Lucy Minayo Lugatia and Anthony Nzau Musau to the boards, effective May 25.
Aside from the CSs, governors from other counties made distinct appointments. Governor Paul Otuoma of Busia County has selected five members for the Rural and Urban Affordable Housing Committee.
