SIAYA: Police Officer Killed, Body Dumped On The Roadside

A police officer was attacked and killed in an unusual occurrence in Rarieda, Siaya County.

Police are probing the death of Constable Christone Maundu of Aram police station on Thursday, July 17, on the Ndori-Luanda Kotieno Road.

According to police, the event occurred as he was waiting for help after his motorcycle ran out of petrol.

Moments after the murder, his body was located near Rarieda Secondary School with significant slash wounds on the skull.

The motivation for the murder remains unknown, according to authorities.

According to authorities, the motorcycle he was riding was recovered near his body.

Maundu had earlier escorted his two coworkers and was riding back to the Aram retail mall on his motorcycle when he died.

The motorcycle ran out of petrol, so the dead called his colleagues for assistance.

When his colleagues arrived at the scene, he was lying in a pool of blood and unmoving, according to authorities.

The assailants fled the scene. Senior police officers went to the spot and indicated that investigations had begun.

No arrests have been made, and the motive has yet to be determined, authorities said on Thursday.

The body was sent to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigation.

The authorities believe their colleague attempted to fight and resist a robbery, resulting in the fatal stabbing.

There is also a possibility he was trailed and killed for unknown reasons.
