Ndindi Nyoro Removed From Parliament’s Powerful Committee
Months after demoting Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro from Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has removed him from the influential Parliamentary committee.
Nyoro was moved to the Diaspora Affairs and Migrant Workers Committee as part of a slew of reforms announced by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on Tuesday.
The amendments were part of a motion introduced by the National Assembly Departmental Committees on Selection, which supervises House committee appointments.
“Further to the resolution of the House of Wednesday, March 5, 2025, and Thursday, March 6, 2025, appointing members to various committees and pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 175, this House further approves the appointment of the following members to the respective committees as specified hereunder,” the motion read.

Nyoro succeeds Sankaire Leah Sopiato on the Diaspora Affairs and Migrant Workers Committee.
Meanwhile, Mathioya MP Edwin Gichuki will take over the influential Budget and Appropriations Committee.
While Wetang’ula did not divulge the reasons for the purge, the timing of the changes is noteworthy because they occurred at a time when Nyoro was vocally opposed to the Kenya Kwanza government.
One of the more dramatic charges made by the Kiharu legislator involved the recent hike in fuel prices, in which he claimed that the administration used deceptive narratives to justify the increase.
