Museveni Avoids Handshakes During Visit In Nairobi

During his official visit to Nairobi on Tuesday, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni maintained a careful distance and avoided handshakes with leaders.

President William Ruto welcomed Museveni to State House during his official visit to boost mutual ties.

When Museveni arrived, Ruto greeted him and shook his hand.

Museveni, on the other hand, declined to shake hands with other leaders who had gathered at the place to greet him.

They included Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

Ruto was seen introducing him to the leaders, and the Ugandan leader acknowledged each one with a nod and a wave from a short distance.

Museveni’s determination to maintain social distance and eschew handshakes was interpreted as a preventative move, maybe based on personal health concerns.
