Ford Kenya MP Battling For His Life In India – Speaker Wetang’ula Confirms
Moses Wetang’ula, Speaker of the National Assembly, has confirmed the health status of Kwanza Member of Parliament Ferdinand Wanyonyi, amid reports of his death.
On Thursday, Wetang’ula informed the House that Wanyonyi, who had been confined to Nairobi Hospital for about a month, had been sent to India for specialised treatment at the request of his physicians.
“I also want to inform the House that the Honourable Ferdinand Wonyoni, the Member for Kwanza, is currently unwell,” the Speaker said.
“He was admitted to Nairobi Hospital for about a month, and doctors recommended that he be taken to India for further treatment. He is now in India.”
Adding, “Yesterday, I had a conference call with him and his spouse, who accompanied him. This morning, the Clerk also communicated with him.

“I am sharing this to address malicious rumours circulating in his constituency suggesting that he has passed away.”
The Speaker chastised persons who circulated false rumors regarding Wanyonyi’s health, calling such actions wicked and useless.
“He is in a hospital in India, responding well to treatment, and is there with his wife and daughter. I have personally communicated with him,” Wetang’ula said.
He reminded Members of Parliament that health issues can affect everyone and encouraged empathy rather than speculation.
Wetang’ula’s correction comes after a succession of misleading communications.
