Uhuru’s Cousin Barred From Publishing Bribery Claims Against Supreme Court Judge

The High Court has prohibited businessman Kung’u Muigai from publishing or disseminating comments alleging that Supreme Court Judge Isaac Lenaola accepted a bribe to influence a court judgment.

The decree was given in response to a suit filed on September 30, 2025, by Justice Lenaola against Muigai for defamation based on accusations made on social media and other digital channels.

Justice Lenaola informed the court that Muigai falsely accused him of getting Ksh.1 million to give an adverse judgment in a matter involving the businessman and a company affiliated with him.

The judge claimed that the statements made during interviews and online postings were widely circulated on sites such as YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, WhatsApp, and X (previously Twitter).

Justice Lenaola filed an affidavit supporting his application, which included films on a flash disk, pictures, screenshots, and print media extracts.

A certificate issued pursuant to Section 106B of the Evidence Act accompanied the electronic evidence.

The judge claims that the allegations are defamatory, malicious, and intended to portray him as a corrupt judicial officer who receives payments, degrading his stature in society and damaging public trust in the judiciary.
