TRAGIC! Kitengela Bar Shooting Victim Dies In Hospital

One of the two victims of the Kitengela club shooting died in the hospital from his injuries.

Kevin Maseri died on Thursday morning after being transported from Kajiado Referral Hospital to Metropolitan Hospital due to a deteriorating condition, according to authorities.

Maseri died from two gunshot wounds, according to his family.

He was shot from behind, with one bullet entering through the back and exiting through the stomach.

It ruptured one kidney, the pancreas, and the small intestine. The other bullet struck the scalp, according to the postmortem results.

Daniel Kachori, the family lawyer, stated that they will pursue justice in the matter.

He stated that an autopsy on the deceased had verified the cause of death as gunshot and haemorrhage.

“According to the doctor, the person who shot him fired at close range. The bullet entered and exited, affecting his intestines, liver, pancreas, and kidneys, and caused a severe infection,” said family lawyer Kanchori.

His family urged Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to take action and guarantee that the police officers responsible for the shooting are arrested as soon as possible.

Police revealed that they have three firearms that were allegedly used at the club on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

According to witnesses, the victim was shot alongside his cousin in a commotion that erupted at the club.

Kevin’s body was transferred to the Kitengela Sub-County Hospital funeral home at 1 p.m.

He had been admitted to Kajiado Referral Hospital before being transferred to Metropolitan Hospital, where he died.

The late Kevin and his cousin Joseph Musondu sustained gunshot wounds after an altercation with police officers, including a senior DCI officer, at an entertainment joint in Kitengela town.

Musondu, who was shot in the abdomen, is in stable condition and under treatment at Kajiado Referral Hospital.

Kajiado Police Commander Alex Shikondi said three persons of interest in the case had surrendered their firearms to the police.

Out of the three, two firearms belong to police officers, while one pistol belongs to a civilian who is a licensed firearm holder.

“The exhibits have been taken to our forensic lab for examination, including three rifles and some cartridges,” said Shikondi.

Shikondi said the probe is also being conducted independently by the Internal Affairs Unit and IPOA.

The police commander said those involved in the shooting will be held to account.

“When we get results from the forensics lab, we get the postmortem report, then an opinion will be formed on who was responsible for the shooting,” Shikondi stated.

He said they will decide if murder charges will hold in the incident.

Six suspects and four witnesses have so far recorded statements with police.

Police have also acquired CCTV footage of the dramatic incident, which is key in unravelling the truth.
