Ruto Flies To Ethiopia For Emergency AU Summit Amid Global Uncertainties
President William Ruto will leave for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Friday afternoon to attend the 37th African Union Summit of Heads of State and Government.
Hussein Mohamed, State House Spokesperson, stated that the Head of State will travel to Addis Ababa for the AU Summit, which will be held amid global uncertainties and economic upheavals.
Leaders are expected to identify continental objectives and implement Agenda 2063.
The summit’s topic is “Building resilient education systems for Africa’s 21st-century human capital.“

President Ruto will speak about the educational disparities that have left 98 million African children without access to schooling.
As chair of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC), the President will also present a report on the continent’s progress in addressing the climate problem.

This includes the Nairobi Declaration, which was agreed upon at the first Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi last September.
The document is Africa’s definitive roadmap for addressing the climate change challenge, and it offers reforms to both the global financial system and the Multilateral Development Banks.
The Head of State will also attend a mini-East African Community Summit focused on the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo and other regional issues.
In addition, he will meet with other heads of state, heads of international institutions, and business executives.
