Former School Principal Arrested For Alleged KCSE Exam Malpractice

A former principal of a famous school has been detained for alleged involvement in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination misconduct.

Detectives arrested the suspect in Embu County on Tuesday, May 26, and he is scheduled to be arraigned alongside a school staff member.

The two are under investigation for their alleged involvement in activities that jeopardized the integrity of last year’s national exams.

The former school principal is specifically accused of broadcasting exam answers on a wide television screen for students before the November 2025 exams.

Following the reports, investigators searched the facility to make arrests, but the principal fled, eluding the police.

He was later relieved of his duties by the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC), even as the investigation into the matter continued.

His arrest comes at a time when detectives are making crackdowns on fake certification, making arrests on those alleged to have fraudulently acquired employment using fake KCSE certificates.

A recent incident is the arrest of a former employee at the office of the Auditor General, who was alleged to have acquired a fake KCSE certificate.

The employee is accused of having acquired over Ksh5 million in salary before the crackdown, an amount the detectives said will be returned in full.
