HUGE TWIST: Slain Westlands Robbery Suspect Found With Senior Judge’s Gun

A Court of Appeal Judge has been linked to a missing handgun recovered from a robbery suspect killed by police in Machakos County.

The Beretta pistol allegedly went missing from the judge’s tightly guarded house in Kitusuru for months without his awareness.

According to reports, detectives only informed him of the weapon’s disappearance after it was discovered following a fatal firefight in Joska on Monday, July 13.

According to the police report, which was taken at the Spring Valley police station on July 15, the judge stated that he does not generally carry a firearm.

He told police the last time he physically checked on the pistol was back in October 2025, when he intended to renew its licence.

“He further stated that the last time he physically checked it was in October 2025, when he intended to renew his firearm licence,” stated the report in part.

“However, he later forgot to complete the renewal process.”

That renewal process, however, was never completed, and the weapon’s whereabouts remained unclear until investigators came calling.

“Yes, this weapon was identified as the one used in the July 4, 2026, robbery of the Chaiiwali Café in Westlands,” stated the officers.

The attack unfolded at Chaiiwali restaurant along General Mathenge Road on July 4, when masked gunmen stormed in and terrorised diners inside.

Surveillance footage of the raid quickly went viral online, sparking public outrage and pushing detectives to launch an urgent manhunt for the culprits.

That manhunt eventually led officers to a residential hideout in Joska, Machakos County, where a key suspect had reportedly gone into hiding.

The suspect opened fire on cornering detectives from inside the house, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire that left him fatally wounded.

Officers recovered the loaded Beretta, extra ammunition, and several mobile phones from the scene, later confirming the firearm belonged to the judge.
