‘When Sifuna Speaks, It’s ODM’s Position!’ – Governor Arati Confirms
Kisii Governor Simba Arati has supported ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, claiming that the Nairobi Senator’s words represent the party’s actual attitude.
Some ODM politicians have verbally attacked Sifuna, accusing him of distorting the party’s views.
He has been outspoken in his criticism of the Kenya Kwanza regime, taking a firm stand on reported abductions and illegal killings.
His stance has clashed with several ODM legislators who support the administration, resulting in a battle of words.
On Friday, Arati stated that Sifuna’s words were consistent with the ODM’s perspective on the country’s predicament and showed his support for him.
“There are people insulting Edwin Sifuna, but I want to say that as the Secretary General of ODM, Sifuna is the spokesperson of the party,” Arati said during a funeral in Ekerenyo, Nyamira County.
“The ODM spokesperson is none other than Sifuna, and when you hear Sifuna speak, that is the party’s position.”

Arati underlined that despite ODM supplying specialists to the Kenya Kwanza government, the party will continue to scrutinize President William Ruto’s government.
“Let me speak as the deputy party leader of ODM. We provided experts to the government, but we are not part of it,” Arati said.
“We have told the president that he is our brother, and we will ensure the government delivers, but as ODM, we are not in his government.”
There has been internal conflict within ODM, with Sifuna under fire for reportedly undermining the government in which some party members serve.
Over the weekend, Sifuna encouraged party MPs and officials who support President Ruto to quit and officially join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
He accused these officials of compromising ODM beliefs by “becoming Ruto’s mouthpiece, supporting his punitive policies, and abandoning ordinary people.”
“Leave ODM and join UDA if you cannot defend Kenyans. Stop being sycophants and call out Ruto for the injustices happening in the country,” he said in a statement.
Siaya Governor James Orengo also chastised ODM leaders who “blindly support” Ruto, advising them against partaking in what he called “praise and worship” for the president.

“We must stand firm as a party,” Orengo told ODM supporters in Siaya County recently.
Gladys Wanga, ODM’s national chairman, recently warned party officials against undermining the government.
She indicated that ODM is deliberately interacting with Ruto’s administration and keeping an eye on the 2027 elections.
“Don’t fight our people in government. You cannot burn a house while trying to protect your children,” she told party supporters in response to Sifuna’s statements.
