SHOCKING: SDA Elder Stabs Another On Church Altar Over Love Triangle

A 35-year-old Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) senior was fatally stabbed by a fellow elder at a church service on Saturday due to a purported love triangle.

The incident occurred at Ramoya village, Samba Sub location, Suba South Constituency, Homa Bay County.

Francis Opiyo, an Ebeneza SDA church leader, was attacked with a knife on the altar in front of the congregation.

It was alleged that Francis was stabbed by a fellow elder shortly after delivering church reports to the congregation prior to the main sermon, which was to be presided over by the church pastor.

According to Suba South Sub County Police Commander Caxton Ndunda, Elder Francis finished his session well and passed over to a colleague elder to take over before the pastor’s session, which would follow later.

However, as Francis was giving over, the suspect, a fellow elder in the same church, walked to the altar, pulled a dagger from the Bible, and stabbed Francis on the left side of the chest, causing him to collapse immediately.

Ndunda claims the assailant accused Francis of having a sexual relationship with his wife, who is also a church member.

After completing the act, the assailant fled and surrendered to the area Assistant Chief, while the senior was brought to the hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.

Ndunda said that they had already caught the culprit, who is currently imprisoned at the Magunga police station.

The police chief advised locals to seek alternative methods of resolving social issues rather than resorting to murder.

The body was taken to the St Camillus Hospital Mortuary in Sori Town, Migori County.
