He also wished the injured a quick recovery.
“May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace. We pray that God grants them strength and fortitude during this difficult time,” added the CS.
The disaster occurred in the Josa region of the Wundanyi-Mwatate Road, when the minibus transporting the students failed to brake and crashed at the dangerous Josa bend.
The pupils were heading home following a second fire incident at their school, which prompted the management to close the school and send them home.
In addition to the four pupils, the minibus driver and a parent who went to pick up their child died.
Survivors were sent to Moi Referral Hospital in Voi for treatment, while others were transferred to St. Joseph Mission Hospital.

After the fire earlier that day, Dr Aggrey Boys’ High School was closed indefinitely, and all students were sent home.
The blaze, which began just two days after another dormitory fire on Thursday night, shot dense plumes of smoke into the sky as alarms rang across the institution.
The cause of the flames is unknown. However, fast action by students, the local community, and the county fire department helped to confine the flames before they went any further.
Despite the pandemonium, all pupils were evacuated successfully, with no injuries reported.
