Medical Doctors Threaten To Down Tools As Gov’t Fails On Its Promises
The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has vowed to go on strike within the next two weeks if a return-to-work agreement with county governments is not implemented.
The union claims that a court order to promote doctors and offer health insurance to medical practitioners has not been followed.

The Union’s Secretary General, Davji Atellah, urged the government to address issues affecting the health sector, including a review of social health insurance.
Dr. Atellah spoke in Nakuru during a meeting with the Union’s stakeholders.
Atellah observed that our patients are not regarded enough, pushing them to rummage in their pockets, and exposing them to more suffering.

The KMPDU has previously protested against the administration over unfulfilled promises.
The Union, led by Atellah, has complained about the awful working circumstances that medics face, claiming that the State has turned a blind eye to fulfilling its endless list of promises.
