Gachagua Reveals ‘Interim Report’, Party Unveiling Set For May
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that he will reveal the name of his newly founded political party, which is fully established and set to begin in May 2025.
On Sunday, February 9, 2025, the former second-in-command spoke to Kikuyu radio and television stations.
The discussion focused on the political destiny of the Mt Kenya region now that he has entirely parted ways with his old employer, President William Ruto.
During the event, Gachagua went into detail about his party and the larger Mt Kenya political landscape.

He underscored that what he said during the interview was direct communication from the people of Mt. Kenya, who had trusted him to express their worries.
At this point, he declared that he had completed the mandate granted to him by the people of Mount Kenya.
The goal is to develop a dominant political party that will serve as the region’s hallmark force, similar to Raila Odinga’s ODM.
“Our party is ready. It is in the showroom, the engine is brand new, the tires are Michelin, and the driver is Gachagua—he won’t steer it off course,” he said.
“People are eager to know the name. The fifth month is when we will make the big reveal. We will begin opening branches, transitioning people from UDA, and firmly rooting them in our new home.

He continued: “We want all other communities to join us—we are offering them seats at the table. We have already allocated positions to some, and for those yet to be accommodated, this is their chance to come on board.”
Gachagua then said that Gen Zs would have the majority of representation in the party, guaranteeing that it is dynamic, inclusive, and in line with current political trends.
Throughout the conversation, he continually attacked his former boss for what he saw as a betrayal of the Mt Kenya region.
He indicated that, for the time being, he was withholding any precise details regarding the celebration since the timing was not yet appropriate.

However, he promised that once presented, the party will be the buzz of the nation and a political pioneer.
“Gen Zs will play a major role and will be key decision-makers. For strategic reasons, I will not be announcing the name of the party today. We will launch it in Nairobi at a venue that will be announced in due time.”
Gachagua also mocked President Ruto on development issues, claiming that it was not his influence that caused Mt Kenya inhabitants to reject him, but rather Ruto’s own failure to make concrete improvements in the region.
The former Mathira MP further said that Mt Kenya residents had told him to inform Ruto that they would not bow or beg for development projects and that if the president decided to ignore them, they would have already moved on.

He said that even during his stint as deputy president, they had unwaveringly supported Ruto.
Gachagua personally persuaded the residents of Mt Kenya to do the same, but they received no big benefits.

“My people have made it clear—they will not beg or bow to anyone to receive development. They are taxpayers and rightfully deserve everything,” Gachagua stated.
“No one will chant praises just to be handed development projects. Even when I was beside him, cheering him on, we got nothing. So, cheering won’t change anything.”
