DCI Operation Uncovers Repackaging Of Stolen Subsidized Fertilizer In Kisii
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kisii South have discovered a ring that repackages stolen government-subsidized fertilizer and sells it to unwary farmers.
Security officials conducted a sting operation and discovered a hideout where unscrupulous businessmen were repackaging government fertilizer.
It was then mixed with dirt and oil to darken its color, giving the appearance of high-quality fertilizer, which was subsequently sold to farmers.
Inside the bunker, authorities discovered strong evidence of the scheme: sacks of fake fertilizer that were apparently ready for sale.

“The fertilizer was being repackaged to appear black, as there is a belief in the market that black fertilizer is the best,” said Kisii South Deputy County Commissioner, Grace Ouma.
Throughout the operation, police arrested two suspects. Police are aggressively seeking their accomplices.
“The suspects tried to resist arrest, but upon questioning, they confessed. We continue to investigate, as we suspect this could be part of a larger racket,” said Ouma.
