Kenya Railways Flags Fake Job Advert Requesting Payments
Kenya Railways Corporation has urged the public to be aware of fake job adverts spreading on various internet platforms, some of which require money for applications and interviews.
Kenya Railways Managing Director Philip Mainga released a statement on Wednesday warning Kenyans about bogus employment advertisements.
He asked them to use official methods to obtain such information.
“Kenya Railways wishes to notify the public of fraudulent job advertisements currently circulating on various online platforms, some of which are requesting payment for applications or interviews,” read part of a statement by Kenya Railways.

As a result, the railway operator invited the public to confirm job openings via its official website, the weekly government publishing newspaper, and its official social media platforms.
It also underlined that any official communication from Kenya Railways includes the corporation’s official logo and contact information.
Furthermore, the firm stated that it does not collect fees for employment applications or recruitment.
The latest letter follows a recent advisory from the corporation warning Kenyans about 600 job postings reportedly advertised by Kenya Railways.
The bogus advertisement stated that the corporation was looking for CCTV operators, security officers, electricians, transport operators, and record keepers to improve operations.
The false job post also includes roles like clearance and forwarding officer, data entry clerk, cleaner, driver, receptionist, store manager, and legal services manager.

However, Kenya Railways quickly refuted the reports, stating that no such openings had been advertised.
“We wish to alert members of the public about a fake job advertisement circulating on various social media platforms,” the corporation stated.
Meanwhile, Kenya Railways unveiled plans on Tuesday to modernize the Nairobi Commuter Rail Network with World Bank funding of Ksh86.43 billion.
According to a notification published in the government journal MyGov on Tuesday, February 18, the corporation intends to bid for funds as part of the Kenya Urban Mobility Improvement Project (KUMIP).
