Police Detectives Make Breakthrough On Victoria Mumbua’s Murder
Detectives from the Director of Criminal Investigations have apprehended another suspect in the murder of Taxi Driver Victoria Mumbua Muloki.
Muloki sparked national interest after she went missing for more than three weeks before being discovered dead in the City Mortuary on October 3, 2024.
Following her death, the DCI conducted an investigation and arrested Edwin Ng’etich, her final customer who had sought transport from Mombasa to Samburu.
Ng’etich was arrested while in possession of the deceased taxi driver’s vehicle.
In a disturbing confession, Ng’etich informed police that he requested the ride on September 27 and then attacked her, battered her many times, and tied her to the back seat of the car.
On Friday, February 21, DCI announced the arrest of another suspect thought to be Ng’etich’s accomplice.
“The suspect was also arrested following ongoing investigations into the murder of Victoria Mumbua Muloki, which took place on September 27, 2024. She was a taxi driver based in Mombasa,” the statement read in part.
The suspect was also related to the death of another male cab driver from Migori, who died on July 31, 2024, under mysterious circumstances.
Furthermore, DCI detectives have stated that efforts to locate and apprehend additional people linked to these crimes are still ongoing.
Muloki, according to an autopsy performed by government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor, experienced substantial trauma before her tragic death.

Detectives domiciled at the DCI Homicide Bureau have arrested Cecilia Wangari Kirisa, 39, in connection with the murder of Maxwell Wamwea, which occurred on May 11, 2022, in Kasarani area in Nairobi.

The autopsy revealed that the victim was assaulted many times with a blunt object before being strangled, demonstrating the brutal nature of the attack.
In a separate instance, the DCI detained a 39-year-old lady in connection with a man’s murder in Nairobi on May 11, 2022.
Initially, the crime was submitted to Kasarani Police Station as a mob injustice event.
However, following a complaint letter received on November 19, 2023, the DCI launched new investigations, which led to her imprisonment.
