Munene, an intern in the county’s IT department, was discovered dead at Kenyatta National Hospital, despite his family’s public requests for information on his whereabouts.
Munene had left work at the City Hall Annex on the day he went missing to run errands in the Nairobi Central Business District before heading home to his family.
According to Citizen TV, Munene received a call from a close friend as he was leaving work.

The texts between the two guys and a family member revealed that Munene and his friend went downtown to buy a phone cover.
In a peculiar twist, the two were confronted by police officials, with authorities capturing his companion and Munene fleeing.
However, Munene was apprehended by an alleged crowd at the intersection of Kirinyaga Road and Charles Rubia Road in the CBD and beaten unconscious between 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm.
According to eyewitnesses, Munene had allegedly stolen a phone when the crowd attacked and assaulted him until the police arrived and rescued the KCA university student.
Munene was reportedly brought to KNH and given prompt medical assistance.
Due to the severity of his injuries, which were largely to his head, he was later brought to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Munene reportedly died from his injuries two days later, and his body was taken to the KNH mortuary.
Meanwhile, the family, unknowing of the situation, continued to seek until Munene’s death was discovered.
The family has now raised questions about the events that led to their loved one’s terrible demise.
Munene’s mother, Marion Karambu, stated that on the day of his abduction, her son called her and asked for more money for transportation back home.
However, when she returned home from work, she was surprised to see that he was not present.
“He called me at around 4:20 pm asking me for money to top up his transport, which I did send him. From then, when I got home at 8 pm I discovered that he had not arrived,” Karambu shared.
According to them, Munene went to work without his identification documents, leaving them at home, which added to the mystery.

These included his work and national identification credentials, which he would have had to obtain entry to his employer’s premises.
“After searching for him, when we got into his room, we found his IDs, the national one, job access, and school student identification,” Karambu narrated.
In reaction to these developments, the police have arrested Munene’s close buddy and others they believe are involved in the crime.
The authorities are now questioning them in an effort to learn the complete story of what happened on that fatal day and the events that followed.
