POLITICS: Gachagua Goes After Ruto’s PHD Education Status

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has criticized President William Ruto’s recent tour of the Northeastern region, during which he boasted about his PhD education.

During a trip to Garissa County in early February, President Ruto chastised government critics, stating that they had the intellectual credentials to challenge him.

Speaking to Musyi FM on Wednesday, Gachagua took a shot at his former employer, pointing him that Ruto’s PhD status had nevertheless thrown the country into chaos.

He noted that contentious Kenya Kwanza administration policies have an impact on areas such as health (Social Health Authority), university education funding model, and cost of living.

During a tour of Garissa County on February 6, 2025, President Ruto slammed critics of the statewide livestock mass vaccination effort, calling them fools who lack the credentials to advise him on what to do.

“Sasa kuna watu wengine wajinga wanatuambia tusichanje ng’ombe yetu tusipate soko la kitaifa. Si hiyo ni ukumbafu? Si tumekuwa tukichanja mifugo yetu tangu zamani?” Ruto posed.

Since his break with his former employer, Gachagua has been hellbent on exposing the Kenya Kwanza administration for what he considers poor performance.
