FRAUD ALERT! Huruma MCA Arrested Over Fake Diploma, Forgery Allegations
Huruma Ward MCA Peter Owera Oluoch was detained on Monday, March 3, 2025, for allegedly engaging in forgery and supplying fake information.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) revealed that Owera claimed to have a diploma from Kenya Polytechnic.
However, an independent investigation proved that he was never a student at the school.
He was also charged with submitting misleading information in self-declaration forms.
“Mr Owera declared that he held a Diploma from Kenya Polytechnic in the Self-Declaration Form. However, upon verification by the Commission, it was established that the suspect was never a student in the Diploma programme at Kenya Polytechnic,” the EACC stated.

According to the EACC, Oluoch also falsified the signature and stamp imprint of an Advocate and Commissioner of Oaths.
He is now being held at the Integrity Centre police station and will be arraigned in court on March 4, 2025.
The EACC disclosed that several government officials are being investigated for the fabrication of academic certificates.
This comes only days after Juja MP George Ndung’u Koimburi was prosecuted in court on February 19 for six forgery counts.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Ndung’u reportedly faked a Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) certificate for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
“On diverse dates between November and December 1994, at an unknown time and place within the Republic of Kenya, with intent to deceive, the MP forged a KNEC certificate for KCSE, purporting it to be a genuine and duly signed certificate issued by KNEC,” the ODPP stated on February 19.
Other political figures who have had to justify their academic qualifications include Oscar Sudi, Hassan Joho, former Gatundu North MP Clement Waibara, and former Wajir Governor Mohammed Abdi.
Furthermore, Ferdinand Waititu, former Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja, and former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi have all been accused of academic falsification in distinct cases.
