12 Killed, Scores Injured In A Grizzly Accident Along Nairobi-Nakuru Highway

A car collision at the Kamandura Junction in Kiambu County on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway has killed at least twelve persons and left others injured.

The catastrophe occurred on Friday morning at about 9 a.m., when a 14-seater matatu lost control and toppled, killing numerous individuals on the scene.

Residents who were near the accident scene raced to assist in rescuing the victims from the wreckage before transporting them to Tigoni Hospital.

According to witnesses, the matatu, which was full of passengers, was on its way to Kijabe in Kiambu County when the tragedy occurred.

While the actual number of people involved in the collision has yet to be determined, it caused a massive traffic jam along the popular road, causing drivers to seek alternate routes.

Videos and photographs released online showed the matatu substantially damaged, with a smashed windscreen, shredded seats, and deflated tyres, demonstrating the severity of the incident.

Moments later, Limuru traffic police officers came on the scene, sealed off the area, and towed the vehicle to relieve the increasing bottleneck.

The latest tragedy occurred just hours after three individuals died on the same site when the vehicle they were in lost control and plummeted into a ditch, injuring two others.

The catastrophe occurred on Thursday, April 10, when a matatu attempted to overtake another vehicle, but lost control, killing the trio on the spot.
