Gachagua Reveals Why He Still Has Pictures Of Ruto At Home

This is the rationale former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua gave for the appearance of photos of himself and President William Ruto in his home, despite their well-publicized feud.

During a live program with media personality Oga Obinna, the former DP claimed that he still keeps photos of himself with the Head of State as a reminder of the treachery he suffered at the hands of Ruto.

โ€œWhen he betrayed us and hounded me out of office, I made a decision for them (pictures) to stay there to serve as a constant reminder of betrayal,โ€ Gachagua stated.

The Democracy for the Citizens Party leader said he keeps the photos as a reminder to anyone who visits him and to help him remain cautious about his future political allegiances.

โ€œSo even when people come to see me here, I look at them very closely,โ€ Gachagua expressed.

“Because when I look at him (Ruto) and remember how he betrayed me, I look for possible betrayers and I am very careful.”

He also stated that the experience has taught him to be more cautious and measured in his interactions with guests and the general public.

Gachagua insisted that the photographs will be there forever.

Gachagua described his interactions with Ruto, including how frequently he visited his Karen house in the run-up to the 2022 General Elections, in which Ruto ran for president.

โ€œWilliam Ruto was a frequent visitor to this home. My wife, Pastor Dorcas, has cooked for him many times, he was always here as he sought my support to become President,” Gachagua remarked.

“We took these pictures outside on the many occasions he visited me.”

Looking back on his connection with the President, Gachagua said that he did not see the alleged betrayal coming, claiming that Ruto was a master of deception.

โ€œI did not see it coming till late. Aah the guy is good, deception, wow!โ€

According to Gachagua, Ruto was so skilled at lying that he even cried in his home, pleading for his assistance. This prompted him to join forces with him out of compassion.

However, he considered his failure to sign a written political agreement with Ruto as a key miscalculation that landed him in an unfavorable political position during his impeachment.

“I had no single document on the agreement. The guy would come here and cry real tears, ‘My brother, please help me, I am a Christian, I am a good man, help me,’ and out of sympathy, I said okay,” Gachagua alleged.

However, Ruto previously stated that he parted company with Gachagua because of his promotion of destructive politics centered on tribalism and seclusion.
