Baba Dogo Residents Clash With Police Over PlayGound Grab

Baba Dogo residents battled with police on Friday as they attempted to retrieve their belongings after being evicted from the Baba Dogo playground.

The homeowners claimed that the evictions were part of a targeted land grab by a private corporation.

However, police maintained that they were enforcing a court order for the residents to vacate the property.

Tensions rose as citizens engaged police in running skirmishes while attempting to save what remained of their homes.

Many stated that they would go to court to obtain an injunction to prevent any development in the contested area until their case was heard.

“It seems like someone has taken over this playground and is using the police to demolish the structures at the front to gain access,” Baba Dogo MCA Geophry Majiwa said.

“This demolition shows they are targeting the field.”
