PATRICK TITO: Who Is The Man Set For Acting DIG of Kenya Police Position

Following Eliud Lagat’s resignation, Patrick Tito, Principal Assistant to the Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police (DIG), will fill the vacancy.

This comes after Lagat resigned from his job on Monday, following the death of Albert Ojwang in police custody on June 7.

He explained that he stepped aside to allow for inquiries.

Tito is a professional police officer who took over as Principal Assistant to the DIG in March 2025.

He was the Nyanza Regional Police Commander before being transferred to Vigilance House in Nairobi and appointed Principal Assistant to Lagat.

This comes after Miriam Muli, the former PA to DIG, retired in February 2025.

Tito, as the DIG’s personal assistant, has been the primary driver of the service in a variety of capacities.

The PA advises the DIG on a variety of operational matters. He returns to a familiar territory. He had previously worked as a personal assistant for former police chiefs in the same office.

They include Maj Gen (Retd) Hussein Ali, Mathew Iteere, David Kimaiyo, and Joseph Boinnet.

He was subsequently transferred to the diplomatic police unit, railways, and finally to Nyanza, where he has worked for about a year. He takes over familiar territory.
