'We Are Coming For You!' - Ruto Warns The Protest Financiers

‘I Have No Apologies!’ – Ruto Says After Building 1.2B Church At State House

President William Ruto has defended the ongoing construction of a church at State House, claiming that the project is funded entirely by his own resources and that he owes no one an apology.

Speaking on Thursday when receiving Embu County authorities, led by Governor Cecily Mbarire, the President reaffirmed his personal devotion to faith and dismissed criticism of the program.

“Mimi ni mtu naamini kwa Mungu, and I have no apologies to make. Kwa kujenga kanisa, I have no apology, na hakuna mtu nitaomba msamaha,” Ruto said.

He stated that the church is being erected within the State House compound and admitted that the project had received media attention.

“Naambiwa ati mpaka kwa gazeti leo kuna mtu anasema ninajenga kanisa hapa,” he said, brushing off concerns raised in the press.

The President’s words come amid a rising public debate about the relationship between religion and state.

This follows his frequent religious messaging and attendance at church gatherings since becoming office.

However, Ruto insisted that constructing a house of prayer within the official presidential residence is both a personal decision and an expression of his views.

Church building at the State House continues as part of the President’s long-held ambition for a dedicated house of worship on the grounds, according to sources.

“Nimeamua nijenge kanisa inatoshana na State House na haitagarimu, serikali ya Kenya peni moja. Nitajenga kwa sababu kanisa ya Mungu ni pahali inatoshana heshima.”

The president’s remark came after a story in one segment of the media said that he is building a chapel worth Sh1.2 billion at State House.

The publication claims that the move calls into doubt the constitutional separation of church and state.
