Fury, Chaos Rock Mombasa SGR Terminus After Train Suspension
Kenya Railways immediately suspended the 10 p.m. train to Nairobi, resulting in chaotic scenes at the SGR Mombasa terminus.
The move, which caught travellers off guard, left hundreds delayed at the Mombasa terminal.
Left with no other option, several people chose to spend their time sitting in the open fields in the dark.
Some of those stranded were returning from the Summer Tides festival in Diani.

There was also significant traffic from vehicles that had come to the terminus to drop off loved ones before boarding the train.
The stranded passengers reported they had not received any updates from terminal officials on the situation.

Some passengers stated that they arrived at the station two hours earlier to reserve their train to Nairobi, only to discover that the service was unavailable.
“We were coming from summer tides but apparently, we got a notification from the SRG team that the 10 pm train has been suspended,” one passenger told Citizen TV.
“Right now, all of us here are stranded, we don’t know whether to book a bus, we have seen police road blocks, we don’t know what is happening, we are very unsure.”

“The SGR team has not communicated if they are going to issue a refund, they have not communicated if they are going to offer accommodation for us, they have locked us out of the terminus so what are we supposed to do and we are stranded?” he posed.
