Court Releases Jayne Kihara On Ksh50,000 Bond, MP Speaks
Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Kihara has warned President William Ruto about his tight ties with Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah.
Kihara was speaking outside the Milimani Law Courts on Friday, July 18, after being granted a personal bail of Ksh50,000 for appearing in court on accusations of incitement.
“I would like to tell President Ruto, with Ichung’wah as your friend, you don’t need another enemy,” Kihara said.
“With Ichung’wah around you, you need no other enemy because he is the one wronging Kenyans. He abused me and told me to behave my age.”

Kihara, who was arrested on Thursday evening, has said she will continue to work for a better Kenya.
She insisted that no amount of anguish or frustration would prevent her from telling the truth.
“I will continue to fight for Kenyans and my people, even if they put me behind bars for weeks, I am prepared, the only thing I am left to do is fight,” the MP said.
“If we have to stay in cells to get justice, then we will do it. I have reached the climax of my politics by sleeping in the cells.
She added, “I have never even been booked in the OB before. Anyone who thinks they will silence me should not bother,” she continued.
The MP did not enter a plea since the court has not yet determined whether the charges brought against her were legally viable.
The case is slated for mention on Tuesday, July 29, when the court will rule on whether the charges meet the legal threshold.

According to a charge sheet given by lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, Kihara was accused of making a statement on July 8 while in Nairobi during a public gathering with the purpose of inciting a breach of peace.
Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru urged the court to dismiss charges against Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara, arguing they serve ulterior motives and personal egos rather than public interest.

They have charged Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara with the Offence of Breach of Peace. The offence is a misdemeanor that attracts a fine of less than Kshs. 5,000. Why all the drama of guns and subarus? A total waste of public resources. pic.twitter.com/o2iOSEOvRG

In the highlighted address, Kihara claimed that goons were transferred to Naivasha on NYS buses and raided the constituency during the protests.
She also cautioned the president against supposedly fighting the youth.
Kihara was arrested on Thursday after officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) forced their way into her residence.
