Linda Bose, Hulk Hogan’s representative, confirmed that the wrestling legend has died at the age of 71.

According to TMZ, he suffered a heart attack at his home in Clearwater, Florida.

Born Terry Bollea in 1953, Hogan is perhaps the most well-known name in professional wrestling history, serving as the industry’s face during the 1980s and 1990s.

Known for his red and yellow attire, handlebar moustache, and signature “Real American” entrance song, he made the sport a mainstream entertainment sensation.

He made his debut in 1977 and wrestled until his 50s, becoming a 12-time world champion in the process.

His career spanned decades and featured numerous appearances in the WWE, where he headlined some of the most famous events in wrestling history.

He joined the then-World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1979, leaving briefly in 1981.

When he returned, the firm and the sport were never the same again.

Hogan helped turn WrestleMania, the WWF’s flagship event, into a global sensation.

He made a big splash at the first WrestleMania in New York in 1985, teaming up with Mr T to defeat Paul Orndorff and Roddy Piper.

One of his most memorable matches came at WrestleMania V, when “The Mega Powers Explode” pitted Hogan against his former tag team partner, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, for the World Heavyweight Championship, which Hogan won.

The following year, in Toronto, he lost to Ultimate Warrior, the Intercontinental Champion, in a rare title-for-title match, his first defeat since 1981.

He also faced The Rock at WrestleMania in 2002, a generational confrontation that signaled the end of an era.

His final WWE encounter was at SummerSlam 2006, where he defeated Randy Orton, who was then called “The Legend Killer.”

Outside of the ring, Hogan ventured into popular entertainment, co-starring with Sylvester Stallone in the 1982 film Rocky III and later acting in films such as Mr Nanny and Suburban Commando.

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 and again in 2020 as a member of the NWO, the renegade faction that shaped the Monday Night Wars of the 1990s.

However, Hogan’s legacy was fraught with controversy.

He was kicked out of the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015 and had his contract canceled after a leaked video showed him using a racist epithet.

The words effectively ended his association with WWE for several years, until 2018, when the organization restored him, citing a second opportunity.

However, some stars, including Titus O’Neil and The New Day, stated that it would be “difficult to simply forget” what he said.

Hogan made a one-time return to WWE on the first Raw episode to air on Netflix in January 2025, but was booed by the audience.

The reaction was similar to his most recent appearance on Monday Night Raw, when he advertised his own beer business.

After leaving the ring, Hogan made political campaign appearances in the United States, including rallies for Donald Trump. Behind the scenes, he struggled with health problems.

In an interview with YouTuber and wrestler Logan Paul last year, Hogan revealed that he had undergone approximately 25 operations in the previous decade alone.

“I’ve had like 25 surgeries in the last 10 years; 10 back surgeries, both knees and both hips replaced, shoulders – everything,” he told me.

In May of this year, it was widely reported that he had neck surgery.

Despite the disputes and physical decline, many in the wrestling community and others are mourning his death.

“R.I.P to a legend,” President Donald Trump wrote on X.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) issued a statement saying it was “saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away,” adding that he helped WWE attain global fame in the 1980s.

“WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”

Hulk Hogan had two children with his ex-wife, Linda Hogan: daughter Brooke and son Nick.

From 2005 to 2007, the family of four appeared in the reality television series Hogan Knows Best.

Linda and Hulk were married from 1983 until 2009.

He later married Sky Daily in September 2023 and became the stepfather to her three children.

Regardless of the controversies that surrounded him, Hogan will most likely be remembered for his most memorable moments in the ring by millions of devoted fans who used to call themselves Hulkamaniacs.
