Ruto Ally Claims 2027 Re-Election ‘Sealed’ Following Uhuru Meeting
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei said President William Ruto’s re-election is certain following his recent meeting with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta held an unexpected meeting with Ruto on Friday, August 1, sparking heated debate among Ruto supporters as well as Kenyans.
The two leaders met during a consultative session on the Democratic Republic of Congo peace process, where Uhuru is Kenya’s envoy.
However, the circumstances of the encounter, which occurred after years of political friction between the two, have sparked conjecture about a possible thaw in ties and its relevance for the next general election.
Cherargei, a close confidant of President Ruto, claimed on his official X page that the meeting bodes well for the president’s second term.

“The presence of Uhuru at State House yesterday with President Ruto has made most people angry because they don’t want an inclusive, united & cohesive Kenya,” the senator alleged.
Cherargei, a staunch supporter of the Kenya Kwanza government, went on to say that the meeting marked a political change that effectively ensured Ruto’s re-election in 2027.
“This also confirms that ‘tutam’ (re-election) is crystal clear now for President Ruto’s administration; in fact, the 2027 General Presidential Elections will be a coronation ceremony,” the senator continued.

Cherargei took advantage of the chance to criticize opponents who have been actively campaigning against Ruto in the run-up to the general election.
“The opponents can wait to run in the 2032 General Presidential Elections,” the senator told leaders like Kalonzo Musyoka, Fred Matiang’i, and Rigathi Gachagua, who are eyeing the presidency in 2027.
While the senator appreciated the meeting, it is unclear whether Uhuru and Ruto had private discussions regarding national politics.
The two, however, sat together through the East African Community (EAC), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), and the African Union (AU) meeting, where many resolutions, including the merger of EAC, SADC, and AU structures, were suggested.
