[PICTURES] Governor Wavinya Unveils AMBITIOUS Cutting-Edge Sports Complex

Machakos County is destined to be one of Kenya’s sporting beacons, with Governor Wavinya Ndeti announcing the development of the Machakos Sports Complex Aquatic Centre, a world-class sports arena.

In an official statement on X, the governor stated that the ambitious initiatives have already begun, with phase one of building an Olympic-sized swimming pool underway.

“I am proud to lead the transformation of sports in our county through the construction of a world-class Sports Complex,” Wavinya announced.

“This will be more than just a facility; it will be a landmark of pride and progress for our people.”

According to the governor, the stadium would include an Olympic-sized swimming pool, among other world-class features.

The pool was built to meet world-class competitive swimming standards while simultaneously serving the community.

In addition to the pool, the complex will have a sophisticated indoor sports arena that can accommodate year-round events and training sessions.

This facility will cater to basketball, volleyball, badminton, and other indoor sports, providing athletes with a professional atmosphere to perfect their skills.

A multipurpose stadium will also be constructed to host football games, athletic competitions, and large-scale cultural events.

With seating capacity and amenities designed for national-level events, the governor stated that the stadium is expected to attract tourists and participants from throughout the country and beyond the world.

“It will open doors for talented athletes to train, compete, and shine at the highest levels,” the governor reiterated.

“It will inspire healthy lifestyles, create safe spaces for engagement, and keep our young people focused on their dreams.”

According to the governor, the stadium will give additional benefits beyond sports, such as increasing the local economy and offering chances for traders, service providers, and hoteliers.

The stadium also promises to create more jobs for Machakos County inhabitants, both during building and long-term operations.
