Ruto’s State Of The Nation Address Announced For Next Week
President William Ruto will address a special session of the National Assembly on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Parliament has announced.
This was confirmed in a joint notice signed by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula and his Senate counterpart Amason Kingi on Tuesday, November 11.
The Speakers stated that the extraordinary session was called after the President provided a formal notification to Parliament confirming his availability for the address.
According to the announcement, the president will deliver the address at 2:30 p.m. in the National Assembly Chamber, Main Parliament Building.
According to the speakers, the address complies with Article 132(1) (b) of the Constitution, which requires the president to address a special session of parliament once a year.
In accordance with Article 132(1)(b) of the Constitution, President William Ruto will on Thursday, 20th November 2025 deliver his annual State of the Nation Address before a joint special sitting of Parliament.

The annual presidential special sitting is a session in which the president addresses Parliament and informs lawmakers and the general public on the government’s agenda, important accomplishments, and national policy priorities for the coming year.

The session is normally joint, with members of both the National Assembly and the Senate present.
The President enters the Chamber in a traditional procession, preceded by the maces of both Houses.
After he concludes his address, the Houses are adjourned until a later debate on the speech’s contents.
President Ruto gave the last State of the Nation Address on November 24, 2024, just two months after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was impeached.
