DAP-K Responds To Viral Letter On Leadership Change

The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) has denounced as fraudulent a document circulating on social media that purports to transmit substantial party leadership changes and the removal of top executives.

The party claims the letter, which appears to be addressed to the Registrar of Political Parties and bears its letterhead, is a forgery and should be ignored.

The letter, dated November 12, 2025, states that an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) was called and voted to dismiss two senior party members while installing new office bearers.

It also claims that the Registrar was ordered to amend official party records in accordance with the purported changes.

The letter includes a signature and an imitation party stamp, as well as a visible red “FAKE” watermark, which DAP-K claims was added to notify the public after the fraud became widely circulated.

The letter also claims to have the signature of Acting Secretary General Seth Panyako.

The falsified paper goes on to imply that the party’s top leadership has been reshuffled and that there has been disciplinary action.

“Following extensive consultations and in accordance with the DAP-K constitution, and having satisfied itself that due notice was issued and the members were accorded a fair hearing, the NEC resolved to expel Hon. Eugene Wamalwa and Eseli Simiyu from the party with immediate effect,” the letter claims.

It further alleges that, “Consequently, and in line with the powers vested in the NEC under Article 10, the committee resolved to fill the resulting vacancies on an interim basis until the next Delegates Congress.”

According to the forged paper, the supposed new office bearers are Governor George Natembeya as Party Leader, Deputy Governor Ayub Savula Angatia as Senior Deputy Party Leader, and Seth Panyako as Secretary General.

The letter portrays the supposed appointments as immediate and binding, meaning that the Registrar of Political Parties must update the party’s official records appropriately.

“We kindly request the office of the Registrar of Political Parties to update the party records accordingly and acknowledge receipt of these changes as required under section 20 of the Political Parties Act,” it further purports.

It also stated that they remain available to offer any extra documentation that the office may request.

However, DAP-K has denounced the entire message as a fiction, pointing out that no such NEC meeting occurred and that no leadership changes or expulsions were sanctioned.

The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) is formally led by Eugene Wamalwa, with Eseli Simiyu as Secretary General and George Natembeya as Deputy Party Leader.
